The Gift

Give thanks to your

Biological mother

For giving you the gift of life

Sometimes for different reasons

Your birth mother

Cannot raise you

That’s why God blessed

Adoptive mothers

With the gift of an adoptive child

It’s quite a responsibility

To raise a human being

Important daily decisions arise

Preparing healthy foods

Offering care, safety and affection

Selecting a good school

To get a good education

No matter how good or bad it gets

For better or for worse

In sickness and health

I’m certain that not even for

 Millions of dollars

Would an adoptive parent

Trade you in

Adoption? Thank God for That Option! is a children’s story. The foreword is appropriate for adults. The characters are very real and the story is non-fiction. It has humor, repetition and rhyme, plus ends with a poem titled, The Gift. The book is fully illustrated with color and black and white photographs. It shows how adoptive children are no different from biological children when it comes to love and to care for. They grow, eat, sleep, breathe and play sports. They have good days and bad, just like everybody else. Most important of all, they are loved in good times and bad.

Author Ana Monnar shares a touching and heartwarming children’s story with real characters in Adoption? Thank God for That Option! An emotive biography-autobiography of three children that were given an opportunity to enjoy the gift of life. With humor, repetition and rhyme, colorful illustrations, and black-and-white photographs, readers will see how adoptive children are no different from biological children --- they grow, eat, sleep, and play, they need love and care, and they experience good and bad days. Definitely a good read for adoptive children and foster parents, and an eye-opener for biological mothers and pregnant teens as alternatives to abortion. Appreciate life through Adoption? Thank God for That Option!

Adoption Creed

Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn't grow under my heart,
But in it.
